(dun dun dun dun dun dun) bright, bright baby!

Oh Vanilla Ice, you never cease to amuse me.

Today was all about busting out that bright lipstick, namely Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics lip tar in Anime. Anime is the brightest, most neon pink I have ever come across. Pictures never do it the justice that in person does.
In order to wear this, I use a minuscule amount to cover my lips. These lip tars are so incredibly opaque.
To wear this in a non-haute-coture way, I paired it with shimmery lids, winged eyeliner, rosy cheeks and a golden highlight.

Getting back into the groove after Summer.

Getting back into the groove of things. I went to California to spend some much needed time with my boyfriend this summer so I was off the grid, literally, for about 8 weeks. I had no internet access unless I went into the nearest towns coffee shop and no television.
It was nice to disconnect for awhile and just focus on my relationship.
And I probably spent 7 of those 8 weeks without a stitch of makeup on so I think it was good for my skin to have a big breathing break.
But now that I'm back to my makeup stash, it's time to start playing again.

I kept today bright since it's still summer, but I couldn't go into neons since my sister and I are going to try on wedding dresses tonight since she finally became engaged about 3 weeks ago after being with her boyfriend for 8 years. It was a long time coming.

This was one of those looks that just kept morphing.
If I didn't know better I'd say someone put a Transfiguration spell on me!
It started out with going to be a really light strong contrast eye of a very white-gold, with black liner, and a strong pop of turquoise underneath paired with a bright lip.
But then I came across my Sugarpill Goldilux Chromalust eyeshadow and all was lost.
I forgot how much I loved it and how much it needed to be the center of attention.

So I ended up with a very, very 24K gold eye on top, strong, smudgy black eyeliner, and a hint of turquoise underneath. I added some contouring with bronzer to my face in the hollows of my cheeks and a strong gold highlighter on my cheekbones.

365 project=fail

I couldn't keep up with it everyday unfortunately. With my heavy class load as a Biology major and a metalsmithing minor, I couldn't handle having to be up every morning at 6, classes, homework, studio work time + projects with creating a new look every morning. Half the time I was going to class with very little makeup, or just grabbing my Urban Decay NAKED palette for a quick, easy look. I'm going to continue looks, they just won't be part of the 465 project.
C'est fini,
Lauren

I'm thinking pink.

Thursday's look was very simple. thursdays are the day I have class from 8 in the morning until 9 at night so I needed to know my makeup was going to last all day. What do I turn to?
Urban Decay and Obssesive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip tar.

Last day with bad pictures, I promise.
This whole look was super simple. Black cat eyeliner, super long lashes, slightly flushed cheeks and pinky coral lips.
Products used:
Urban Decay Primer potion
Stila Smudgepot in Black
MAC So Sweet, So Easy Cremeblend blush (Barbie pink)
OCC lip tar in Divine (divine is listed on their website as "pale, flamingo pink" and while it is pink, it pulls a little but coral on me. Which is fine cause I love coral, but just should be noted.)
Revlon Super Lustruous lipgloss in Pink Pop.

I solemnly swear that i am up to no good,
-Lauren

Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy KE$HA...

Day 1 of the 365 makeup project, and indeed I woke up feeling like Ke$ha.
Not in the way that makes me want to slather on some blue lipstick because I'm so hungover from my date with Jack Daniels last night, but it that bold, quirky-in-your-face makeup that catches your eye of that daredevil walking down the catwalk.
Ke$ha was in Seventeen magazine a few volumes back and I have to say, I ADORED her makeup in it.
Bright, funky and out there.

So I had to recreate it and twist it a little.
 The products I used were:
Kryolan HD Cream liner in Aqua
Stila Smudge Pot in Violet
Generic white Gel liner from ebay
Stila Smudge Pot in Kitten
Revlon Satin Eyeshadow single in Nude Slip
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Smog
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Oil Slick
MAC Blacktrack Fluidline
Covergirl Lashblast Mascara
Tarte Bronzer in Park Ave Princess
MAC Peaches Blush
chapstick

Sorry for the not so fantastic photos, my camera was broken at this time and photo booth was all I had.

And now I'm just being silly.
I left the glitter and rhinestones off since I was going to class and I didn't want to be that walking pixie leaving a glitter trail everywhere.
Day 1 completed.

Bring me that horizon,
Lauren
